Decorative lightbox images within the News & Media page lack a null alternative text, so image file names may be announced to people using a screen reader to navigate. This fails WCAG 2.2 success criterion 1.1.1 (non-text content).

Content that’s not within the scope of the accessibility regulations

Third-party content

Within the X (previously Twitter) feed component some copy lacks contrast, non-decorative imagery lacks an appropriate alternative text, multiple empty links are present, and ARIA hidden elements contain focusable content. We do not plan on fixing these as this is within third-party content that’s under someone else’s control. 

 

The focus order of the Accessibility Tools widget is illogical, whereby, users must navigate through it without having expanded the tool. As this is third-party content that is under someone else’s control we are unable to fix this. Both third-party components are exempt from meeting the accessibility regulations.
